Small Engine Repair
Technology
Thank you for showing interest in the Small Engine Repair
program offered at the Great Bay Community College located on our campus
at Stratham, N.H. Our program is a non-credit program. We offer no degrees in
Small Engine Repair Technology at this time but each student receives a
certificate of achievement upon successful completion of the course. EETC and
OPE certification examinations are available but only recommended to qualified
technicians. We welcome these technicians to take our Certification level
refresher courses of a 16 hour duration. All other courses include 8 hours of
classroom and 24 hours of "Hands On" shop experience for a total of 32 hours. Students are encouraged to
work on their personal project but adequate training equipment is available. We
share the Nataf approved Automotive Technology laboratory and equipment so we
are well equipped. Our present program is considered a self interest workshop
primarily for preventative maintenance needs of the home owner with small
engine equipment. A student who wishes to choose the Outdoor Power Equipment
industry as a career will find our courses are of good introduction but many
more hours of concentrated study and large expenditures in tools are necessary
to gain qualified technician status. We are accredited by the Equipment and
Engine Training Council (EETC) and the Outdoor Power Equipment and Engine
Service Association (OPEESA) and are an Authorized Testing Center for their
Technician Certification examinations. Our goal is to have our own facility at
our Pease International Trade Port campus soon. Then we can offer a one year
certificate program which would be transferable to a two new year Associate
Degree curriculum. Interested people can register or receive more information
by calling our Stratham campus at (603) 775-2207 or (603) 775-2218 or our Pease campus at (603)
334-6306 or online at www.greatbay.edu.
