Certificates Offered: OPE Certifications in 2 Stroke Cycle Engines Instructor: Charles E. Dearborn Jr This Small Engine Repair Technology workshop includes classroom and shop experiences directed at maintaining and repairing a variety of 2 stroke cycle engines used on outdoor power equipment including lawn, garden and portable power equipment. The instructional units emphasize the complete repair of various types of small engines that power the equipment related to its use. This program is designed as an introduction to qualify students to eventually take the OPE Technician Certification Tests in the area of 2 Stroke Cycle Engines. Students will gain the necessary introductory knowledge and "Hands on Skills" to enter the OPE industry as job entry level technicians successfully. SMALL ENGINE SERVICE PRINCIPLES Principles of operation of two stroke small engines and their associated systems. Emphasis on troubleshooting and the analysis of faulty systems and their components. This class covers fuel/oil mixture applications and service and maintenance on commonly used lawn equipment. This class also covers basic engine overhaul procedures, fuel/oil systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, carburetion, induction, exhaust and emission systems
SMALL ENGINE TWO STROKE OVERHAUL Overhaul procedures covered for two stroke small engines internal components are piston ported and reed valve induction assemblies, pistons and rod assemblies, crankshaft and sealed crankcase assemblies. Emphasis on shop procedures for disassembly, assembly, component inspection, component measurement and component servicing
